McMaster Professor Mark Loeb has received a lifetime achievement award from the Association of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Disease Canada (AMMI Canada).
One team is developing rapid self-tests that would lower community exposure, and the other is studying farming communities for insights on transmission and risk for human populations.
The evidence generated from the trial could be crucial in shaping mpox vaccination strategies to help tackle a large and deadly mpox outbreak escalating in the Democratic Republic of Congo and neighbouring countries.
